James Royley Lemaire

Cow Island—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of James Royley LeMaire, 84, who died Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his residence.  He will be laid to rest at LeMaire Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.

Royley retired from Unocal as a production superintendent in 1994 and spent the rest of his years enjoying his family. He was an avid deer hunter and loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren playing sports. James also loved LSU, cajun music and dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Verlan Gaspard LeMaire of Kaplan; his two sons, Mark O. LeMaire of Youngsville and Gadell LeMaire and his fiancee, Alma Garner of Houston, TX; his daughter, Mona King and her husband, Bubba of Gray; his stepson, Sean Harrington and his wife, Maria of Austin, TX; his three stepdaughters, Sheila Latty of Kaplan, Kathleen Rhodes of Lake Charles and Amanda Sonnier of Sugartown; his eight grandchildren, Jason LeMaire, Jared LeMaire, Gabrielle LeMaire (Brock Landry}, Saidee Nunnally (Seth), Kristen Benham (Derrick), Brenna King, Tayler Hackman (Bryce) and Hali Garcia; his eight great grandchildren, Bryelle, Isabelle, Ayva , Hayes, Aivyn, Blaire, Karsyn and Trey; his five sisters, Lela Ortego of Opelousas, Sally Lege of Abbeville, Laurance Boudreaux of River Ridge, Laura Stelly of Abbeville and Margaret Istre of Mobile, AL; and his three brothers, Michael LeMaire of New Orleans, Robert LeMaire of River Ridge and Robert Broussard of Delcambre.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Rung LeMaire; his parents, Robert "Tee-Joe" LeMaire and the former May Rose Hebert; his three brothers, Francis David LeMaire, John Weldon LeMaire and Frank Ellry LeMaire; and his godchild, Jeromy Stelly, Sr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM; Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 10:30 AM.
