James Glenn Rigsby

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September  1, 2018 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of James Glenn Rigsby, 84, who died Monday, August 27, 2018 at The Haven at Windmere.  He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.

James Rigsby was a graduate of Auburn University where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in chemical engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Lake Charles where he lived all of his adult life while working for Olin Corporation. In addition to his career at Olin Corporation, Mr. Rigsby was also an inventor and holds two patents. In his spare time, he was an avid bowler for many years where he served as treasurer for his bowling league. He was also a sportsman spending quality time outdoors hunting, fishing, and boating. Mr. Rigsby also belonged to a barbershop chorus where he served as treasurer for the SPEBSQSA. Other organizations he belonged to included the Knights of Columbus and the Buccaneers of Lake Charles. Most of all, Mr. Rigsby enjoyed to travel with his wife, Alice. They travelled to several countries, either by themselves, or with travelling groups.

Mr. Rigsby is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alice Hebert Rigsby; two sons, Jerrod Rigsby and his wife, Wanda of Maurice and Jason Rigsby and his wife, Vicki of La Porte, TX; one daughter, Allison Rigsby of Baton Rouge; ten grandchildren, James Lawrence Rigsby, Samantha Rose Rigsby, Jordan Squires, Trevor Marcantel Rigsby, Daniel Layne Rigsby, Cassie Nicole Doiron Porter, Jessica Rose Doiron, Kaylee Marie Doiron, Lauren Elizabeth Rigsby, and Taylor James Rigsby; two great grandchildren, Jayden Rigsby and Orion Borel; one sister, Annie Lue Rigsby Larson; one brother, William Donald Rigsby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray Rigsby and the former Valera Dozier; his sister, Fannie Sue Rigsby Hales; and a son, Bryan Rigsby.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, September  1, 2018 from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM when the procession departs for the church.
