Joan Young Collins

ABBEVILLE — Graveside services were held on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 3p.m. at Graceland Cemetery, honoring the life of Joan Young Collins, 76, who died Thursday, December 13, 2018 at The Bradford Rehabilitation Center in Shreveport, LA, after a lengthly battle with cancer.

Virginia Joan Young Collins was a long time resident of Mississippi, and a resident of Shreveport, LA since 2005. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA, and grew up with her twin sister in the home of Dr. Marion A. Young and Charlotte B. Young of Abbeville. She was a loving and giving wife to Toxi Gerald (Jerry) Collins of Biloxi, MS.

Joan is survived by her twin sister, Mary Jean Young of Shreveport; two aunts, Mary Catherine Rolfs of Shreveport, and Virginia Elizabeth Cowan of Peoria, Illinois; and one nephew, Chris Lee Booth of Dallas, Tx.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Marion A. Young, and former Charlotte Brandau.
