Joey was a character in the truest sense and had a magnetic personality that drew people to him. His infectious laughter and sense of humor created an atmosphere of joy wherever he went. Cutting up with people was one of his favorite pastimes. Joey also had a green thumb and found such joy in the beauty of nature. He enjoyed getting his hands dirty and cultivating his gardens, which are a true work of art. Spending time crawfishing was another extension of his love for nature and our Cajun culture. Many weekends were spent in crawfish ponds, gathering enough to boil and share with friends and family. Joey also had a knack for fixing things and tinkering. His hands seemed to possess an innate ability to resurrect broken items. Joey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and joie de vivre. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him their own.

He is survived by his wife, Cassandra Jones Badon; three sons, Nicholas Badon and his wife, Sharlie of Hathaway; Zachary Badon and his wife, Trisha of Crowley and Alex Badon; and his wife, Kristen of Jennings. Six grandchildren: Colby, Corbin, Payton, Addilyn, Daxton, and Cullen. His father, Donald Badon of Gueydan, and one sister, Melanie Abshire of Gueydan. Nieces Miranda and Kiley of Gueydan, nephew Chase Abshire, and his fiancée Kaitlyn Hebert of Lake Arthur.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Badon, and brother-in-law, Mike Abshire.
