Joseph Mitchell Veazey

November 16, 1949 — November 7, 2018

Pecan Island—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph Mitchell Veazey, 68, who died Wednesday, November 7, 2018.

He will be laid to rest at Pecan Island Catholic Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services. Pallbearers will be his son, Joshua Veazey, grandsons, Nick Veazey and Michael Trimble, godson, Joseph Abshire and brothers, Joel Veazey and Donnie Veazey. Honorary pallbearers will be his son, Jared Veazey and his son-in-law, Mike Trimble.

Joseph loved reading, music and dancing. He was a Godly man whose spirit was filled with his Catholic faith. He loved and adored his family and will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his sons, Jared A. Veazey and his wife Sandra of Sunset and Joshua A. Veazey and his wife Jennifer of Lafayette; daughter, Angelique Veazey Trimble and her husband Mike of Atlantic Beach, Fl.; brothers, Joel Veazey, Donnie Veazey and Chris Veazey; sisters; Karan Abshire, Suezette Broussard, Tammy Johnston and Kathy Frith; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Marshall Veazey and Gloria Gay Miller Veazey; maternal grandparents, Dozetta Miller and Willie Mae Herbert and paternal grandparents, Uylesse Veazey and Marie Aline LeBlanc Veazey.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM; Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM.
