Joyce Marceaux Perrin

November 22, 1949 — February 20, 2024

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Joyce Marceaux Perrin, 74. She will be laid to rest at St. David Chapel Cemetery with Deacon Bryan Istre officiating the services.

Joyce Marceaux Perrin, a remarkable woman whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of many, has departed from this world on February 20, 2024.

The daughter of Eraste J. Marceaux and Lena Rung, Joyce was born on November 22, 1949, in Abbeville, LA.  She was known as a small but mighty firecracker with a large personality who knew no stranger.

Joyce graduated from Kaplan High School in 1967, she was a member of band throughout high school, which was always one of her fondest memories. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and played the organ at Saint David’s Chapel for over 30 years.

Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Allen “Wayne” Perrin, on February 3, 1968, in Kaplan, LA.  Wayne and Joyce were married for 56 years. Their marriage and partnership were something of which some only dream. Wayne was with Joyce as her amazing caretaker for the final years of her life while she battled dementia.

Wayne and Joyce had three children: John Allen Perrin, his wife, Josette Braquet, their late son, John David Perrin; Josette Perrin Gholson, her husband, Marcus Gholson, their son, Rowdy Gholson; and Lena Perrin Peltier, her husband, Justin Peltier, their children, Jolie Peltier and Lane Peltier.  Joyce played a vital role as a mother figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren, but also for her sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.

Joyce was an amazing grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. Before her sickness, she was heavily involved in all activities with them, she was always playful and taught them so much in that short time.  They loved their Ma-Maw, and she would make them laugh constantly.

Joyce started her crawfish business, Joyce’s Seafood, in the 1990s.  Throughout the years, many fishermen have become family due to Joyce’s outgoing personality. She fully enjoyed visiting with them daily and helping support the local community.

Joyce will be remembered by her family and friends by her loud personality and infectious laugh.  She always helped anyone in need, even when she was struggling herself.  She was a role model to many and will be deeply missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and one brother, Melvin Marceaux. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, John David Perrin; her parents, Eraste Marceaux and Lena Rung; and her brothers Karlan Marceaux, John Marceaux, and Roland Marceaux.

Paul bearers are Donnie Perrin, Jamie Marceaux, Jeremy Morvant, John Perrin, Justin Peltier, Marcus Gholson, Seth Perrin, and Dennis Abshire.

Visitation will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the services begin at 1:00 PM, with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM.
