Judy Lynn Dronet

December 9, 1946 — October 20, 2021

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Judy Lynn Dronet, 74, who died Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at her residence.  She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.  Pallbearers will be Josh Benoit, Keith Broussard, Joseph David, Glade Hebert, Burt Hoffpauir and Sean Schexnider.  Honorary pallbearers will be Farrell Vincent, Melvin Vincent and Rodney Broussard.

Judy was fondly introduced as my third grade sister, not only educating children during her career, but also for how she remained in touch with her inner child throughout life. Many times, I witnessed former students reminisce of their roles in the countless plays Judy directed. Judy was playful and fun, a compassionate and loyal friend and loving to all she knew.

Judy was also a librarian, an artist, a singer, an actor, an author, a publisher and the sweetest sister to Virgie and Melissa. What a joyous heavenly reunion with mom, dad and your precious sister, Virgie it must have been. Your broken heart is mended now.

A 1964 graduate of Leland High School in Mississippi, Judy also received a bachelor’s degree in education from Delta State, as well as additional schooling at McNeese. Judy was a DKG member for 48 years, gathering numerous accolades. She and Virgie traveled to many summer state conventions together, enjoying the scenic routes along the way.  Judy was a member of ABOB (A Block off Broadway) at the Strand Theater in Jennings, a member of the Catholic Daughter Association and Library Club in Lake Arthur, a member and entertainment coordinator with Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, as well as a member of the Kaplan Musee.

She is survived by her sister, Melissa A. Dronet of Lafayette; and numerous cousins, friends and former students.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Virgie M. Dronet; and her parents, Percy J. Dronet and the former Zula Harrington.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 600 N. Church Avenue, on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of the services at 2:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 12:00 PM.
