Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Julia Apple Couvillon, 93, who died Thursday, July 28, 2022, at her residence. She will be laid to rest at St. Anne Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services.
Julia was a parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She contributed to the history of several Vermilion Parish books that were published. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education from what is now known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette. For several decades she served Vermilion Parish schools as teacher and librarian.
Her favorite hobbies were reading, walking, and dancing. Her family was the world to her, and she especially treasured her time spent with them.
She is survived by her seven children, Sandy, Kay, Mike, Joe, Ray, Jacques and Jude; sister, Roseanne Guidry; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Couvillon; son, John Couvillon; parents, Joseph Aubrey Apple and the former Amanda Hebert; and siblings, Zelda, Elva, Margaret and Vernon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM; Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM when the procession will depart for the church.
