July 28, 1931 — May 28, 2023

Kaplan— A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church in Kaplan, LA honoring the life of Junius “June” Marceaux, age 91. He will be laid to rest at Pitery Family Cemetery He enjoyed his jokes, giving half a peace sign, talking about those “golden years,” wonderful stories, and picking on the younger generations. He was an incredible patriarch for his family, a fabulous grandfather, an unselfish brother, and generous friend. June, as he was affectionately called, never knew a stranger and loved to help others.

He worked as a Federal Rice Inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture until his retirement, then continued his education with a trade in HVAC and as an electrician. He and his wife created a great life with their entrepreneurial spirits. Junius was one of five cattlemen in Louisiana to raise Piedmontese cattle. He had a gift for producing beautiful crops, especially roses for his bride.

Junius was a devoted Catholic and a patriotic Army Veteran. He loved to tell the story about God blessing him during war time. He maintained memberships in the American Legion and The Piedmontese Cattle Association. Those who loved him will always have fond memories of fishing, hunting, and tinkering with him.

He made a profound impact on many who are forever grateful for his love. Those who adored him most include his loving wife, Hilda Manceaux Marceaux, with who he honorably celebrated 67 years of marriage and was the love of his life; his son, Mark Marceaux (Catherine); two daughters, Millie Dartez (Alex) and Judy Marceaux; and nine grandchildren, Alexa Broussard (Jeremy), Angela Villejoin (Steve), Carisa Springer (Todd), Lacey Dartez (Dustin Harris), Ben Dartez (Toni), Cole Firestone (Wanda), Camrin Firestone (Courtney), Katie Vincent (Cory) and Paige Marceaux (Paul Stelly). The fondness continued with his great grandchildren, Lainey Villejoin (Jonathan Pachall), Kayla Springer, Ty Springer, Cooper Delaney, Mason Firestone, Aiden Broussard, Magdelyn Broussard, Kenzie Firestone, Hadley Firestone, Hayes Firestone, Braxton Vincent, Judd Vincent, Stetson Stelly, Hampton Firestone, Mollie Mae Vincent, and baby Stelly on the way; his great-great grandchild, Emsley Rae Pachall; his siblings, Dallas, Maylan, and Ulyesse; two sisters-in-law, Hazel and Betty; his adopted sister, Shirley Schexnider; godchildren; and his many nieces and nephews.

Junius was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Loretta Perrin Marceaux; four brothers, Louis, Ellis, Lovelace and Easton; two sisters, Irene and Hazel; an unnamed baby; his adopted sister, Mary; his nephew, Dallas Marceaux; his great grandchild, Colt Stelly; and many beloved babies he was never able to meet.

With heartfelt gratitude the family would like to thank everyone who provided care emotionally, physically, and spiritually in his final days.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, June  2, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, June  3, 2023 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 8:45 AM.
