Kerry, better known as “Baree” was a native to Mulvey, LA where he grew up on a rice and crawfish farm.  From an early age, “Baree” loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, he loved feeling the wind on his face and being free.  He was a simple, kind, God-loving Catholic man who served as an alter server at St. David’s chapel. He was a wonderful husband, father, child, brother, uncle, godfather and friend to many.  To know him was to love him.  Later in life Kerry moved to Nunez, LA.

Kerry worked in the oilfield, where he was able to see the beautiful countries of Africa, Asia, the holy land of Israel, Russia and of course the United States.  He met many wonderful co-workers that became lifetime friends.

He is survived by his wife, Shaina H. Simon of Nunez; his children, Brooke, Mary Paige and Noah Simon and Zachary Hargrave; his mother, LeeVerd Simon of Kaplan; his siblings, Tina Couvillon of Maurice, Randy Simon, Curtis “Cris” Simon II, Joey Simon and Kent Simon all of Kaplan; his three grandchildren; four godchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Thomas Simon; his son, Justin; his paternal grandparents, Robley and Laura D. Simon; and his maternal grandparents, Otis and Annice Melancon.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Cancer Center of Acadiana in Abbeville and the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially his nurse, Amy Sanchez and nursing assistants, Dy’Junera Charles and Chaplin Rachelle Brown for their compassion and care

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. David Chapel, on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at 10:30 AM with a rosary being prayed at 10:00 AM.
