Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Lawrence “Jun” Duhon, Jr., 65, who died Thursday, August 8, 2024 at The Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana.   Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery,  515 Jacqulyn St., Abbeville with Deacon William “Bill” Vincent officiating the services.  Carrying Lawrence to his final resting place as pallbearers are Shawn Duhon, Gary Guidry, Nabih Qaisieh, Craig Guidry, Stephan Guidry, Saba Qaisieh, and Randy Baldridge (honorary).

Affectionately known as “Jun,” and “JB,” Lawrence was the oldest of nine siblings, a native of Abbeville, who lived his last five years in Lafayette. His mother, Betty Jane Theall, took special care of him throughout her life and then his sisters, Dawn and Angie, lovingly took over.  Although living with intellectual and physical challenges, he was warm-hearted, happy, and socially friendly.   He loved Cajun food, his Abbeville High School Wildcats, the New Orleans Saints (as a dedicated Who Dat fan), Mardi Gras parades, his friends, and above all, he loved his family best. For years, he worked at Winn-Dixie.  For decades, he enjoyed dancing, listening to his vast music collection, and recently started singing karaoke with his brother, Shawn.

He is survived by siblings, Dawn Duhon Guidry (Gary), Shawn Duhon, Angela Duhon Qaisieh (Nabih), and Damitri Gaspard Istre; stepmother, Joselyn Schexnayder Duhon; aunts, Shirley Duhon, Barbara Miller (Dalton), and Wendy Gayle Baldridge (Randy); nieces and nephews, Jeannine Guidry Goldsmith, Camille Guidry Arsement (Jared), Craig Guidry, Kalyn Guidry Akers (Kory), Madeline Guidry Meche (Chris), Stephan Guidry (Ashlyn), Grant Duhon, Brandon Duhon, Saba Qaisieh, Sarah Qaisieh, Terize Broussard, Angelle Broussard, Gannon “Bubba” Broussard, Jr., Jacob Doucet, Seth Stout, Hillary Brasseaux, Waylon “PJ” Broussard, Jr., Isaiah Broussard, Chad “CJ” Istre, Jr., Autumn Istre, Damien Torres, and Odelia Torres; and numerous Godchildren, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Duhon, Sr., and Betty Theall; siblings, Serena Faye Duhon, Lonnie Warren Duhon, Gannon Troy Broussard, and Waylon Jessie Broussard; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Essay (Eronic Hulin) Duhon; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lenis (Enice Abshire) Theall.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM.

Lawrence’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Maison de Lafayette, Our Lady of Lourdes, SAGE Rehabilitation Hospital, and Hospice of Acadiana for their compassion and dedication to Jun/JB.
