July 27, 1950 — November 16, 2021

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Lenwood “Lane” Schexnider, 71, who died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at his residence.

“The Lord has called into heaven my rock, my soulmate of 51 years. I would have never dreamed that I would have such a wonderful journey on earth with my beloved husband, Lane.”  He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. His eyes would sparkle when they asked him; Dad or Pawpaw can you check my tires, check the air conditioner and even “would you like to go to the movies with me?” Lane was a kind soul, he helped the elderly on the block by mowing, putting out their garbage etc. He will be dearly missed.

Lenwood “Lane” Schexnider was born in Kaplan on July 27, 1950 to Shirley and Doris Schexnider.  He was a 1969 graduate of Kaplan High School. On August 22, 1970 he married his sweetheart, Betty Simon.

Lane’s working career was in the oilfield in which he was employed by Halliburton. Most of his co-workers started as young men in their 20’s until their 60’s where they became great friends with lifelong memories.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Simon Schexnider; his son, Quinn Schexnider; his daughters, Jamie Scott (Jim Winter) and Tami Schexnider (Freddie Royer); his granddaughter, Abigail Grace Scott; his grandsons, Saul Scott and Caleb Schexnider; his sisters, Sally Campbell (Thomas); his twin sister, Linda “Porkie” Hebert; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Schexnider and the former Shirley Mire; his grandparents, Angela and Irene Mire and Bernard and Rita Schexnider; and his brother-in-law, Marshal Hebert.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 2:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM.
