Lt. Col Claude John Landry

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Claude John Landry, 97, who died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Cedar Crest Assisted Living Memory Care.

He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Fr. Michael Richard officiating the services.

He graduated as valedictorian of his high school class in 1940 from New Iberia High School. He was married to the love of his life for 66 years, Olga Dore Landry before her passing in 2008. He enlisted in the Army as a Private. Pop-Pop Landry served in the United States Army for over 26 years. He served his country in both World War 2 and the Korean War. He retired during the Viet Nam Conflict as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He is survived by his children, Dolores L Ancona (Frank, Sr.) of Lafayette, La, James J Landry (Kathlene) of Abbeville, La., Patrick D Landry (Berthe) Lameque, New Brunswick, Canada, William D Landry of Houston, Texas, Janet L Guidry (Edwin) of Kaplan, La. Thomas J Landry (Roxanne) of Erath,La., Loraine L Loignon (Charles) of Abbeville, La, Nanette L Faul (Doug) of Abbeville, La, Brian W Landry (Jessica) of Gonzalas,La., and Troy J Landry of Abbeville, La; twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Dore Landry; parents, Lucas Landry and former Ella Broussard; one son, David Paul Landry; siblings, Loadice Landry, Anita Landry Hebert, Ulysses Landry, Leo Landry, Anthony Landry, Gabriel Landry, Adele Nunez, Emerite Broussard and Esso Landry; and in-laws, Willie and Marie Romero Dore.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
