Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Marian Simon Turnage, 92, who died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Rosewood Retirement and Assistant Living. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Turnage, Jarod Greene, Raoul Couvillon, Roger Vincent, Gerald Couvillon, and Don Sandoz. Honorary pallbearer will be Braxton Turnage.
Mrs. Turnage was born April 8, 1926. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also shared her love with her numerous nieces and nephews. She worked for the Kaplan Housing Authority for 50 years. Many had great affection for her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia Dell Turnage of Lafayette and Anne T. and her husband, Thomas LeBlanc of Purcellville, VA; her daughter-in-law Sheryl, wife of deceased Earl "Pudgy" Turnage; her sister, Norma S. Vincent of Kaplan; her two brothers, Donald J. Simon of Lafayette and Roland P. Simon of Lafayette; her three grandchildren, Katie T. and her husband, Jarod Greene of Kaplan, Braxton Turnage and his wife, Julie of Australia, and Drew Turnage and his wife, Mia of Kaplan; her five great-grandchildren, Lillian Greene, Avery Greene, Houston Turnage, Rage Turnage, and Tinsley Turnage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Turnage, Sr.; her two sons, Earl E. "Pudgy" Turnage, Jr., and Edward B. Turnage.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 600 N. Church Avenue, on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 8:00 AM until the services with a rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM.
