Marie Annie Lou Simon Abshire

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Marie Annie Lou Simon Abshire, 79, who died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Reverend Bobby Richard officiating the services.

Marie loved gardening, especially her flowers and watching for her hummingbirds. She enjoyed listening to Christian services and accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Family and friends were very important to Marie, she will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by the father of her children, Larry Joseph Abshire; four sons, Ruddy "Boobie" James Guidry, Anthony Abshire, Lane Abshire and Terrance Hardy; five daughters, Edith "Joan" Gauthier, Priscilla Guidry, Robin Abshire Trahan, Rebecca Faye Abshire and Danielle Maureen Abshire; two brothers, Hurby Simon and Keith "Popeye" Simon; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel James Abshire; two grandchildren, Rylie Ann Guidry and Anthony Abshire, Jr.; and her parents, Whitney "T-Whit" Simon and the former Elgine Landry.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, especially Whitney Credeur for her care and compassion and One Church for being such a big part of her life. She placed her faith in God until the end.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM; Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 8:00 AM until the services at 2:00 PM.
