Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Marie Schexnaider Campbell, 91, who passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at her residence. She will be laid to rest at LeMaire Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jonathan Perrin, Brady Campbell and Ryan Campbell; great-grandsons Seth Stansbury and Cohen Campbell; and grandson-in-law, John Boulet. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandsons, Cortney Campbell and Colby Campbell; great-grandsons Jacob Boulet, Logan Boulet, Alan Stansbury, Zachary Perrin, Nathaniel Perrin, Noah Roussel, Gabriel Campbell, Rhett Campbell, Gavin Campbell, Cullen Campbell and Gus Campbell; and great-great-grandsons, Bennett Boulet and Jason Braquet III.
Marie was known as a very loving and creative lady with a big heart. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and cook. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking for her family and mostly spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grands, and great-great grands. She was a beautician by trade. Later in her married life she became a Tailor for a department store in the mall. She spent her retirement years enjoying quality time with her husband and her big, beautiful family. She will be deeply missed and always loved.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean Campbell Huval and her husband, Brud of Coteau; two sons, Lonnie Campbell and his wife, Cathy of Kaplan and Errol Campbell and his wife, Kay of Kaplan; one sister, Alva Jane Schexnaider Dartez of Kaplan, one brother, Michael Schexnaider and his wife, Gretta of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren, Kristie Boulet and husband, John, Payton Tarver, Taylor Motlow, Angie Robicheaux and husband, Craig, Kim Perrin and companion, Andre Camel, Jonathan Perrin and wife, AnnMarie, Jessica Perrin, Mandy Ortego and husband, Billy, Marshal Hebert, Angela Touchet and husband, Todd, Cortney Campbell and wife, Rene, Colby Campbell, Ashley Campbell, Brady Campbell, and Ryan Campbell and, wife Angel; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lanest Campbell, her daughter, Peggy Campbell Motlow; her parents, Evest Schexnaider and the former Augusta LeMaire; one brother, Calvin James Schexnaider; and three sisters, Mary Julice (June) Schexnaider Miller, Virgie Marie Schexnaider Bourgeois and Lee Joyce Schexnaider Gaspard.
The family would like to thank Vermilion Health Care and Hospice of Acadiana for their special care.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM, with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM.
