Mary Alice Mire

Kaplan - We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mary Alice Mire, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on October 4, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Stephen Sahayaraj Irudayasamy will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mire Cemetery.

Mary was known for her green thumb, always tending to her garden with love and care. Her holiday decorations brought joy and warmth to all who visited her home. A lover of jokes, she was infamous for her April Fools' Day pranks that kept her family on their toes. Family meant everything to Mary, and she treasured every moment spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 10:45 AM. A rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

She is survived by her husband, Harris Mire; son, Sherman Mire (Sean Marlow); daughter, Christine Bourque (Nathan); brother, Jessie Smith (Gussie); grandchildren, Spencer Mire, Ian Mire, Hunter Gaspard, Doies Gaspard III, Nathan Bourque Jr., Dillon Bourque, Hailey Gaspard, Tiffany Simon and Breean Greene; and great-grandchildren, Adelie Gaspard, Kash Gaspard, Oakley Abshire, Jaxon Gaspard, Noah Simon, Aiden Simon, Noah Bourque, Vivian Bourque, Emmilean Gaspard, Grant Greene.

She is preceded in death by her father, Preston Smith; mother, Louise Broussard; sisters, Mary Kamel and Elizabeth Blanchard; and brothers, Jerry Smith, Preston Smith and Harris Blanchard.
