Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church honoring the life of Mary Earline Istre, 84, who died Friday, June 21, 2024 at Vermilion Health Care Center. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Fr. Glenn Meaux officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Sabian Montet, Kevin Griffin, Ted Istre, Cody Istre, Brennan Simon and Karl Schexnider. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Marceaux and Scottie Montet

Born in 1940, she married the love of her life in 1960 and spent her years nurturing and caring for many children in her community as a beloved babysitter. She found immense joy in spending time with her family and friends, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all her caregivers, with special thanks to Lisa Touchet and the entire staff at Vermilion Health Care and Hospice of Acadiana. Your unwavering support and compassion provided comfort and peace to Mary and her family during her final days.

She is survived by her four children, Donna Istre of Nunez, Randall Istre and his wife, Rachael of Judice, Kim Istre of Nunez and Keith Istre and his wife, Shamayne of Meaux; six grandchildren, Scottie Montet, Amanda Simon, Cody Istre, Kristyn Harrington, Sara Corrine Istre and Kylie Istre; six great grandchildren, Sabian Montet, Lillian Montet, Jillian Montet, Rhylee Simon, Brennan Simon and Ella Simon; three brothers, Daniel Marceaux, Calvin Marceaux and Alex Marceaux; and two sisters, Shirley Schexnider and Nora Babineaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddy Istre; one brother, Ozare "Sonny" Marceaux, Jr.; one sister, Helen Guidry; and her parents, Ozare Marceaux and the former Marie Laviolette.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM when the procession departs for the church.
