Melissa Mouton

ABBEVILLE -Private services were held for Melissa Ann Mouton, 54, who died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, Monday, September 27th, 2021 at Maison Du Monde in Abbeville, La after a lengthy battle with Huntington's Disease.

Melissa was born on March 29th, 1967 and raised in Kaplan, to the union of the late James Dexter Mouton Sr. and Nancy Mouton. She served her country in the United States Army. Melissa eventually made her home in Abbeville where she gave birth to her only child, Ovey James Luquette. She loved her son with all her heart and enjoyed spending her weekends with him. Melissa was known for being comical and having all the fun she could have while she was able.

Melissa is survived by her son, Ovey James Luquette; her siblings, James Troy Mouton, Darlene Kay Mouton, James Dexter Mouton Jr., Mitchell R. Mouton, Jeremy John Passow, Christie Mouton, Jacob Dolder, Miranda Lea Zenon, and Raymond Adams Jr; Godmother, Debbie Mouton Weygand; aunts, Norma Smith, Patricia Henry, Floydria Mouton, and Brenda Gayneaux; uncles, Lonnie LeBlanc and Glenn Leblanc; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Dexter Mouton Sr.; mother, Nancy Adams; step-fathers, James Passow and Raymond Adams Sr.; grandparents, Ena Touchet, Odilon Mouton, Ralph Smith and Joyce Smith; brother, Randall Dolder; and uncles, Tommy Smith and Sherman Mouton.

The family wishes to thank her Godmother, Debbie and her sister, Christie for the care they gave Melissa through the years of her battle with Huntington's.
