Michael E. Lamarre

Kaplan—A memorial celebration will be held from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday, December  8, 2023 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Michael E. Lamarre, 67, who died Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. Dusty Durbin will lead prayers in Michael’s honor at the close of the celebration.

Michael was a dedicated 10-year member of the American Legion. His unwavering commitment to service and his genuine passion for community involvement left a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He became an integral part of the American Legion family shortly after transferring to Kaplan several years ago. His journey of service began when he took on a role on the executive board. With time, his commitment to the American Legion deepened, and he rose to the esteemed position of 2nd Vice Commander, a role in which he exhibited leadership and selflessness. His impact further extended as he took on the responsibility of Post Manager, dedicating five years to ensuring the smooth operation and success of the post.

A man of many talents, he also assumed the role of Post Bingo Chairman for three years, bringing joy and camaraderie to all who participated. His commitment to the Legion extended beyond specific roles, as he contributed his time and expertise to various post committees including post maintenance, house rentals, and bar operations.

Michael’s warm smile, tireless work ethic, and genuine care for the well-being of others have left an indelible mark on the American Legion and our community. He will be remembered for his service and dedication to the principles of the Legion, and the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pam Lamarre of Kaplan; three daughters, Brenda Hebert and her significant other, Riley Landry of Kaplan, Jennifer Sparks of Semmes, AL and Samantha Mallett of Kaplan; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, David Lamarre and his wife, Charlene; and two sisters, Catherine Lamarre and Elizabeth Lamarre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edward Lamarre and the former Bertha Irene Payne.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
