Abbeville—Michele Landreneau Hargrave, beloved wife, daughter, and esteemed Director of Waiver in the field of social services, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, at her residence in Abbeville, LA. Born on April 29, 1966, in New Orleans, LA, Michele's dedication to her work, her family, and her community was unparalleled.

Throughout her life, Michele made a lasting impact on those around her with her compassionate heart and unwavering commitment to helping others. Her work in the social services industry, combined with her Master's Degree, allowed her to positively influence the lives of countless individuals in need.

Michele's spirit will continue to live on through the memories she created and the lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.

Michele is survived by her husband of 20 years, Joseph “Joey” N. Hargrave;  daughter, Crystal LeJeune and her husband Keith; her mother, Joy Landreneau; step-sons, Marcus Andre Hargrave and his wife Angie, and Jacob Scott Hargrave and his fiancée, Jozette; grandchildren, Kevin Lejeune, Bynlee Southerland, siblings Darren Paul Landreneau (Meredith), Jeffrey Paul Landreneau  (Michelle), nephews Zachary, Ian, Christopher, Nicholas and niece Madeline Landreneau. Also surviving are her sister-in-laws, Sherry Hargrave and her companion (Darlene); and Jane Dartez and her husband (Bob).

Michele is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Landreneau; maternal grandmother, Lucille Michel Schmitz; maternal grandfather, Jules Schmitz; paternal grandmother, Mary Lee Bordelone Landreneau; and paternal grandfather, Hilton Landreneau.

The service for Michele Hargrave will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Vincent Funeral Home 209 S. Saint Charles St. Abbeville, with Associate Pastor Susan M. Ferguson of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, will be officiating the services, with interment to follow at St. Paul Cemetery.  Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Darren Landreneau, Jeff Landreneau, Ian Landreneau, Nicholas Landreneau, Jacob Hargrave, Brian Rosa and Gordon Prima. Visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home 209 S. Saint Charles St. Abbeville, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 9:30 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers Michele’s family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
