Moses "June" Johnnie, Jr.

April 18, 1949 — July 12, 2018

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Moses Johnnie, Jr., 69, who died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Abbeville General Hospital.  He will be laid to rest at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Peter Williams officiating the services.

Moses Johnnie, Jr. was born April 18, 1949. He was the first born son to Moses Johnnie, Sr. and Gertie Mae Dugas Johnnie. Moses was known to all those around him as June. A true jack-of-all-trades, carpentry and artistry were among his many talents. He loved Elvis, Western Movies, and WWE. Moses went to be with the Lord peacefully at Abbeville General Hospital on Thursday, July 12, 2018.

He is survived by his four children, Mary Theresa Breaux of Lafayette, Walter Ray Jackson of Kaplan, Timothy Breaux of Kaplan, and Crystal Harmon of Kaplan; two brothers, Patrick Johnnie and his wife, Rosa of Lafayette, and Douglas Johnnie and his wife, Leona of Lake Charles; five sisters, Janis Rutland and her husband, Harry of Kaplan, Carla Johnnie of Kaplan, Sallie Cornelio and her husband, Marciano of New Iberia, Joyce Brown and her husband, Richard of Houston, TX, and Sandra Wise of Kaplan; and a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Johnnie, Sr., his son, Samuel Johnnie; and three sisters, Geneva Johnnie, Julie Johnnie, and Sharon Johnnie.

On behalf of the entire Johnnie family, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest appreciation for the thoughtfulness presented to us and the love we have been given during our time of bereavement. We would like to extend our heart felt thanks to his special friend, Marci, Fresenius Dialysis, and the ICU team at Abbeville General Hospital. To all those who have called, visited, and sent encouraging messages, thank you for your generosity and prayers. Thank you to all those who have given him rides around town to and from dialysis or simply visited him and cared for him during his time on Earth. May God bless you all exceedingly above all!
