Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church honoring the life of Mary Nolia Touchet Faulk, 87, who died on February 1, 2024 at her home in Kaplan, Louisiana. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services. Her grandson, Kip Faulk, will be performing music at the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Faulk, Jake Faulk, Dylan Faulk, Britt Faulk, Kenneth Dartez, and Norris Touchet.

Born on May 4, 1936 to Ovide and Emetille Touchet, Nolia was a cherished and vibrant member of the community. Nolia’s roots were firmly planted in Kaplan, where she attended Kaplan High School and embarked on a lifelong journey with her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Raywood James Faulk. They were united in marriage in 1956, after which they built a life together, raising four sons and becoming active members of the community.

Dedicated to the education of the next generation, Nolia worked as a teacher's aide in the Vermilion Parish School System. Alongside her husband, she also coowned and managed Faulk’s Grocery, a testament to their strong partnership and commitment to the community.

Nolia was a dedicated volunteer in various youth organizations, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church Parish, and The Country Daisies Club. Her creativity and passion were evident as she received numerous awards for her imaginative projects.

Nolia is best known as an exceptional seamstress. Her craftsmanship was nothing short of extraordinary. Her meticulous work was matched only by its breathtaking beauty, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to witness her artistry.

Nolia found joy in the presence of children. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she shared her warmth, patience, and love with each generation. Her role as a caregiver was marked by playful interactions, songs, and an ability to bring as much joy to a child as they brought to her.

She was preceded in death by her son, Reverend Kendall James Faulk; her parents, Ovide and Emetille Touchet; her seven brothers, Dewey Touchet, Rudy Touchet, Isaac Touchet, Milton Touchet, Clarence Touchet, Mayo Touchet, and Willis Touchet; and seven sisters, Maya T. Suire, Avia T. Langlinais, Agnes T. Hargrave, Ailine T. Dartez, Olivia T. Meaux, Lena Touchet, and Ella Touchet.

She is survived by her devoted husband Raywood James Faulk; one brother Clifford Touchet and his wife, Cecile; three sons, Jody and his wife, Beth, Neil and his wife, Veronikha, and Dennis and his wife, Kathy. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Kip, Shane, Jake, Dylan, Matthew, Britt, and Jolie Faulk; and 10 great-grandchildren, Lily, Addison, Cecile, Katherine, Raywood, Theo, Kate, Emma, Jude, and Wesley Faulk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Her sweet smile and twinkling blue eyes will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of loving and cherishing her.

Visiting hours will be held at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church at 12:45 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
