Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Papelia “Gail” Trahan Stoute, 73, who passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Kaplan Healthcare Center.  She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Deacon William Vincent officiating the services. Those serving as pallbearers will be Robbie Guidry, Danny Arabie, Ryan Trahan, Ashton Stoute, Clayton Dore, and Jeffery “J.J.” Turner.

Gail was a native and lifelong resident of Abbeville. Over the years she embarked on her career at Robies’s Food Center for 20 years and later at PHI as a custodian for 17 years. She treasured spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. As a pastime she enjoyed gardening, coloring, and word search.

She is survived by her daughter, Allison Hughes and her husband Chad; brother, Larry Trahan and his wife, Rose; two sisters, Marian Arabie, and JoAnn Guidry and her husband Bobby; daughter-in-law, Lisa L. Stoute; sister-in-law, Naomie Trahan; grandchildren, Lani Roy and her fiancé Nick Gonzales, Ashton Stoute, Bailey Hughes, and Laya Hughes; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ray Stoute, Sr.; son, Allen "Sweet Pea" Ray Stoute, Jr.; parents, Lionel D. and Theresa Schexnayder Trahan; brother, Louis Doris Trahan, Sr.; sister, Helen T. Veazey; and brother-in-law, Daniel Arabie, Sr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM.

The Stoute family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Kaplan Healthcare Center, Dr. Quinn Quebodeaux, Lafayette General Hospital, Fresenius Kidney Care, and Lamm Hospice of Crowley particularly nurses, Ashley, Katina, Patty, and Charlene for the excellent care they gave to Gail in her time of need.
