Preston "Pj" John Broussard

Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Preston John Broussard, 92, who died Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Abbeville General Hospital.  He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Louis J. Richard officiating the services.  Lectors will be Brooke Hornsby and Michelle Haysley. Gift bearers will be Jamie Corson, Karen Broussard and Kirsten Broussard. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Broussard, Ben Hornsby, Khye Hornsby, Jerrod Broussard, Tom Haysley and Brett Gaspard.  Honorary pallbearers will be Irving Broussard, Hudson Hornsby and Keith Corson.

P.J. was a veteran of the United States Army who served our country during the Korean Conflict.  He retired with Riviana Foods after 33 years of service.  He was a past member of Knights of Columbus #2281, Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course and the American Legion Vermilion Post 29.  For many years he served as an usher for the 4:00 PM mass on Saturdays at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.  He was an avid L.S.U. football fan which he passed down to multiple generations.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Gaspard and her husband, James; son, Kim D. Broussard and his wife, Angela; daughter-in-law, Claire Broussard; eight grandchildren, Brooke Hornsby, Jamie Corson, Michelle Haysley, Karen Broussard, Matthew Broussard, Brett Gaspard, Jarrod Broussard and Kirsten Broussard; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Haydell Broussard; parents, John Broussard and the former Fedora Hebert; son, Daniel J. Broussard; and one brother.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 8:30 AM until time of services.  A rosary is being prayed at 10:00 AM.
