Kaplan—Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery honoring the life of Rex Samuel Herpin, 24, who died Tuesday, December 13, 2022.  He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.

Rex Samuel Herpin suddenly left this earthly life on Wednesday, December 13, 2022. Born September 1, 1998, Rex immediately made his presence known to the world. He was full of life as a toddler. His love for life at an early age spilled out, and was challenging to contain. Family, friends, playmates, classmates, and strangers were drawn to his smile, enthusiasm, leadership, and welcoming nature. As a toddler, his older sisters loved to coddle him, play with him, and his sister’s friends and classmates were drawn to him and loved his outgoing nature. Rex had a beautiful smile and was very talented in artistic endeavors. He loved most sports, but mostly basketball. He had a very difficult time keeping still, and this challenge may have pushed him into trouble at times. But as he grew, he was handsome, warm, charming, and loyal to his friends.

In every early learning center, elementary, middle and high school Rex attended, he left his mark and accumulated friends who have remembered and cherished him and his memories. He never met a stranger. He loved his many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his and his parents close friends and family. He had a special bond with his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles, and many of his friends recognized him as an ambassador to new students in school.

As Rex progressed through high school, he gained new friends who helped him, as he helped them, and they remained friends to the end. He trusted everyone, and welcomed all. To the end, Rex wanted his parents to be proud of him. Rex attended the RAYNER Center, Episcopal of BR, and graduated from Parkview High School. He achieved honor society status at BRCC, attended LSU and was recently accepted to the LSU College of Business. His whole family loved him to the end, faults, achievements, and travails. He cannot be forgotten, only remembered, loved, and extremely missed. His loss is profound, but he is happy and at peace with his grandparents in Heaven.

He is survived by his mother, Angela Trahan Herpin; his father, Samuel Herpin; his sisters, Alexandra Herpin and Katherine Bowler; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rex was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Julius and LouElla Trahan; and his paternal grandparents, John and Marguerite Herpin.
