Kaplan— A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan honoring the life of Rodney J. "Kelo" Broussard, 87, who died Wednesday, February 28, 2024. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Cemetery on a later date.
Kelo departed this world with a heart filled with love and a spirit enriched by a lifetime of joyful experiences. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors, and his zest for life extended to the lively rhythms of swamp pop, Cajun, and Zydeco music, which he celebrated at countless festivals.
He truly embodied kindness and cherished his extensive circle of friends. He embraced every opportunity to welcome new faces into his life. Never one to utter a negative word about anyone, he carried himself with a genuine goodness that endeared him to all.
His greatest source of joy and pride was his family. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with an immeasurable level of affection. Following the loss of his wife, he told his children a piece of timeless wisdom — to always remember the good times. With him, every moment was a good time, and a testament to the joy he brought to his family.
He is survived by two sons, Chad Broussard and his wife Renae of Duson, and Jody Broussard and his partner Nichole Lege of Kaplan; two daughters, Neisha Broussard of Sioux Falls, SD, and Pam Courtland and her husband Ronald of Kaplan; one sister, Renola Simon of Moss Bluff; four grandchildren, Kayla Broussard, Rayna Broussard, Kahlei Zachary, and Sierra Broussard; and four great-grandchildren, Eyla Portillo, Myla Broussard, Frankie J. Dubois III, and Elliana J. Dubois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ophie Broussard and the former Nolia Harrington; and his former wife, Jeannette Broussard.
