Rodney J. Simon

Kaplan—Rodney (Jay), age 96, went to his Heavenly Father on November 16, 2017. A life-long resident of Kaplan, Jay served in the Air Force after graduation from Kaplan High School. He then helped his father farm and operate Farmers’ Rice Mill. Jay farmed rice and soybeans for 40 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife of 70 years, Wilda (Mouton) Simon; children, Brenda Simon of Moss Bluff, Edward Simon and wife, Janice of Kaplan, Glenn Simon and wife, Rhonda of Morse, and Annette Simon Reed and husband, Mike of Moss Bluff; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one due in April; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allison and Gracie (Simoneaux) Simon; and sisters, Hazel Henry, Isabelle Broussard, Rena Badon, and Evelyn Verret.

Funeral services officiated by Deacon David Vaughn were at 1:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2017 at Vincent Funeral Home – Kaplan. He was laid to rest at Cossinade Cemetery.
