Roland James Laviolette

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 28, 2023  at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Roland James Laviolette, 64, who died Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Oschner Lafayette General Hospital.  He will be laid to rest at LeBlanc Community Cemetery with Deacon William Vincent officiating the services.  Those serving as pallbearers will be Lane Laviolette, Tracy Davidson, Beau Davidson, Logan Broussard, Zander Touchet, Mark Nardin, Eric Hardy, and Patrick Bourgeois.

“Speedy” worked hard all his life as a welder mechanic.  He enjoyed weekends at the camp, hunting, fishing, and playing bourrée.  He was a great cook who was always looking for a taste taster. He was an all-around jokester to family and friends.

Roland was a family man who believed family was everything.  His greatest times were shared with his family, particularly, "spoiling" his three grandchildren.  He had a special bond with his twin brother, Nolan.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Amy B. Laviolette; daughter, Heather Trahan and her spouse, Tasha; son, Anthony Laviolette and his spouse, Heather; three grandchildren, Makinzie Laviolette, Lane Laviolette, and Owynn Trahan; mother, Zula Laviolette; brothers, Nolan Laviolette and his spouse, Lori, and Calvin Laviolette; sisters-in-law, Theresa Laviolette and Cindy Laviolette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Adam Curtis Laviolette; brothers, Lonnie Laviolette and Ronald Laviolette; and sister-in-law, Connie Laviolette.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 9:30 AM until time of services. A rosary being prayed at 2:30 PM.
