Ruby "Betty" Labauve Gaspard

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August  7, 2024  at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Ruby “Betty” Labauve Gaspard, 100, who died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at her residence.  She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. Terry Jolley officiating the services.  Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jered Gaspard, Michael Kane, Branndon Brougham, Ryan Landry, Grayson Gaspard, and Meghan Plummer.

Ruby’s time in our world marked many hearts as a rare example of faith and grace.  As a master seamstress and sitter for many of our beloved elders, she took great care that others knew her love for them through acts as well as words.  Those who were blessed to know Ruby as “mama,” “Granny,” or “Grundy,” including 28 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren for whom her affection was endless, will remember the joy she found in watching her family grow.  Her devotion to God is a gift she placed in many hearts, and it continues to shine her light out into the world through the four generations she taught how to love.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Rebecca D. Gaspard; son, Sherial D. Gaspard; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and sister, Belva D. LeBlanc.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Gaspard; parents, Savoie Labauve and the former Alva Leleux; two sisters, Vivian Dupre Myers and Vergie Monceaux; one brother, Joseph M. Duprie; two sons, Garland Gaspard and Michael Gaspard; two daughters, Gayle Brougham and Janet Olson; son-in law, Gerald Olson; and daughter-in-law, Jaci Gaspard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Wednesday, August  7, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
