Ruby C. Richard

Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Ruby C. Richard, 88, who died Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.  She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Jason Vidrine officiating the services.

Ruby was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. For 17 years, she and her husband, Eulan owned and operated Richard’s Grocery and Feed Store in Gueydan. She loved cooking for her family and friends, tending to her flowers, raising cows and planting a large garden. They both enjoyed dancing and met so many couples over the next 30 years. Card playing was also a weekly past time.

She is survived by her six children, Glenn Richard (Teresa) of Gueydan, Darlene Broussard (Sheldon) of Gueydan, Christine Campbell (Rocky) of Gueydan, David Richard (Angela) of Gueydan, Steven Richard (Jackie) of Gueydan, and Carl Richard (Debbie) of Broussard; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Allen Richard of Gueydan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eulan Paul Richard; her parents, Vorice Cormier and the former Theresa Meaux; her sisters, Mary Richard, Lillian Morvant and Yvella LeLeux; and her godchild, Larry Richard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM; Monday, April 11, 2022 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 10:45 AM.
