Russell Wayne Abshire

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Russell Wayne Abshire, 69, who died Friday, May 22, 2020 at his residence.  He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Palthasar Arrockia Doss officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Callie Cormier Abshire of Kaplan; two sons, Christopher Abshire and his wife, Sarah of Forked Island and Joshua Abshire of Kaplan; one daughter, Dawn and her husband, Matthew Vigneaux of Cow Island; one daughter-in-law, Lindsay Abshire of Kaplan; two brothers, Alvis Abshire and his wife, Ethel of Bossier City and Gerald Abshire of Bossier City; two sisters, Linda Abshire and her friend, Fernest Mouton of Kaplan and Patricia Boudoin of Kaplan; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several godchildren.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Hailey and Bailey Vigneaux; one son, Jed Abshire; three brothers, Wesley and Richard Abshire and Mahlan LeBlanc; one sister, Ellen Menard; his mother, Hazel Hebert; his father, Pierre Abshire; and a special uncle, Willis Boudoin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Randall Faulk, Grace Hospice, and the many other doctors for their compassionate care.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Sunday, May 24, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Monday, May 25, 2020 from 8:00 AM until the services at 10:00 AM.
