Scotty Lynn Hyatt

December 17, 1960 — May 30, 2024

Abbeville—Memorial services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Scotty Lynn Hyatt, 63, who passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.  Pastor Chris Theall will officiate the services.

Scotty Hyatt was one of those mysterious types of men with many layers.   From the exterior, he came across as this renegade tough guy, and he could be very opinionated at times.  Though, he also had a softer side on the interior with a huge heart that wouldn’t really be revealed until you got to know him.  Most of Scotty’s work history was spent in the oil industry for various companies, both land-based and offshore.  Scotty loved being in nature, and he found beauty in the sights, sounds, and smells that Mother Nature had to offer.  He had an adventurous spirit and spent most of his free time either in the woods hunting and exploring or fishing the local Louisiana water ways.  He was also an amazing cook and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  But, most of all, he loved being with his sweetheart Penny, along with their beloved pets.

Scotty even had a creative side to him.  He enjoyed wood working and had an amazing talent for being able to transform old Cypress and driftwood into beautiful works of art and furniture.  Scotty had a huge impact on the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by those who truly knew him, and those who understood his many layers.  His exterior may be gone from this world, but his spirit will always be with us… Gone, but never forgotten.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kayla McBroom and Kasey Lynn Hyatt; eleven grandchildren; life partner, Penny Morris; step-children, Jennifer Meaux and her husband, Tim, and Robby Morris and his wife, Darla; brother, Troy Burt and his wife, Nancy; and one great grandchild, Braxton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Hyatt and the former Mary Deloris Kelly; sister, Brenda Jones; brother, Dana Burt; one great grandchild, Everlyn; and one great nephew Lincoln.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Sunday, June  9, 2024 from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM.
