ABBEVILLE-It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sheran Ann Broussard Lee, age 77, who peacefully departed this life on January 8, 2025 at The Calcutta House in Lafayette. Born on August 26, 1947, Sheran was a dedicated educator who devoted 42 years of her life teaching at Forked Island, E. Broussard, and Seventh Ward Elementary Schools. Known for her compassion and empathy, she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues throughout her career.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sheran's warm spirit and infectious sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a woman of faith, embodying the values of her Catholic upbringing, and sharing her love of art through painting, drawing, diamond art, crocheting, and jewelry making.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, followed by a graveside service at St. Paul Cemetery. Rev. François Sainte-Marie, will officiate at the funeral mass. 

She is survived by her children, Christine Lee (Lisa), Chad Lee (Brandi), Derek Lee, and Jermaine Martin (Patrick); grandchildren, Bailey Lee, Chad Lee (Madalyn), Patrick Martin, Matthew Martin, and Carlee Pete; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Lee and Adaline Lee; and siblings, Gracie Broussard (Dale), Gerald Broussard (Loretta), and Ashley Broussard.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee, Jr.; parents, Semar Broussard and the former Laticia Stelly; and siblings, Myrdis Broussard Dumond, Beverly Broussard Adams (Harvey), and Pervis Broussard (Mary).

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home – Abbeville on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 5:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church. 

Throughout her life, Sheran exemplified kindness and compassion, making a lasting impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. The loving care she received in her final years from her devoted caregiver, Jamie “MeMe” LeBlanc, as well as Ben Broussard, Kassidy Walker, Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center I.C.U., and the staff at The Calcutta House, will forever remain in the hearts of her family. Also Sheran’s Family would like to give a special Thank You to Kyle Gaspard for all the care he gave their Mom.
