Thurman Floyd

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Thurman Floyd, 77, who passed away on the evening of Monday August 15, 2022 peacefully in his home with his loving wife and family by his side. He will be laid to rest at Nunez Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Jessie Charpentier officiating the services. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Dane Broussard, Jordan Harrington, Chason Harrington, Winston Broussard, Jason Reaux, Chris Luquette, Mike Simon, Mark Measels, John Johnson, Blaine Lemaire, Cole Chitwood and Sophia Luquette.

A native of Hazen, Arkansas and resident of Acadiana since the year 1982. Mr. Floyd was employed as an electronic technician for many years until retiring. He was a Bible scholar and loved studying and spreading Gods Word. Giving his heart to the Lord early in life he surrendered to preach in 1975. He then went on to earn his Doctorate degree in Theology, and served as Pastor at Pecan Island Baptist Church for the last 19 years of his life. Mr. Floyd loved gardening, his Shetland Sheepdogs, visiting family, traveling with his wife, and going on mission trips. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lege Floyd of almost 32 years; becoming a father and grandfather, he leaves behind his daughters, Vickie Broussard (Mike), Tina Luquette (Chris), and Jodi Reaux (Jason); 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces, Karla M. Johnson (John) and Colleen Jackson (Arden); nephews, Dusty Bailey (Amy), Mark Measels (Nancy), Alan Floyd (Dee Dee) and Arelon (Sholpan); and additional family members, Jeannie Blake and her children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Grace (Ricks) Floyd; sisters, Joyce Floyd Measels (Carlton) and Kathelene Floyd; brothers, Oris Franklin Floyd, Ricky Floyd, and Jimmie Floyd; nephew, Robert Bailey; and grandson, Daxton Harrington.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM; Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of the services at 3:00 PM.
