Kaplan, Louisiana- A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Mark Miley will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Timothy Wayne Choate, 61, who passed away on February 4, 2025, at Kaplan Healthcare Center.
Timothy Choate was born on Thursday, December 12, 1963, to Juanita and Melvin Choate. He was raised in Pecan Island, Louisiana and attended Pecan Island High School. After graduation he entered the workforce for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife Fisheries. He lived in Pecan Island for nearly 45 years until 2008 when Hurricane Ike hit the island and Tim lost his home. This helped Tim make the difficult decision to leave his home and move to Kaplan.
Tim was never known to meet a stranger. He never missed Mass, it was something that gave him so much joy and strength in his life.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Saturday, January 8, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Burial will follow at Pecan Island Community Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Tuner (Abraham); his two sons, Timothy Choate, Jr. (Shannon) and Ivan Boutte (Erik); his five grandchildren, Matthew and Madison Turner, Vanessa, Destiny and Brianna Pledger; his nephew, Danny Choate; his stepson, Rusti Hargrave; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Melvin Choate; his sister, Rachael Choate; his two great aunts, Lelia Vincent and Allie Pearl Miller and her husband Doris Miller; and his grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Abraham Turner III, Ivan Boutte, Erik Boutte, Timothy Wayne Choate, Jr., Dakota Dartez, Sam Hudson and Gage Landry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Turner, Johnny Detraz and Rusti Hargrave.
Tim's family would like to extend special thanks to hospice for their great care and the Basile and Kaplan nursing homes for taking care of him.
