U.J. Gary

January 20, 1939 — March 21, 2024

Abbeville—A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024  at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of U.J. Gary, 85, who died Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family.  He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery.

U.J. was married to the love of his life Deloris LeMaire Gary for 64 years.  He loved to spending  time with his family and friends.  He was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was very active in the horse racing industry.  He was employed as a truck driver for Weatherford, upon retiring he worked for Triple V Farms.  His favorite hobby was to visit the casinos with his wife.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5111.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Kenwood Gary, Riley Gary, Nicholas Gary, Ray Gary, Todd Segura, Jr., and Nerry Gary.  Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Touchet, Kamden Viator, Jacob Viator, Reid Menard, Wayne Bourque, and Skylar Gary.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delorise LeMaire Gary; son, Kenwood Gary and his wife Janise; daughter, Connie Gary; eight grandchildren, Jackie Gary, Haley Chataignier and her husband Reid, Sklyar Gary and his wife Lacie, Kelly Viator and her husband Jacob, Riley Gary, Nicholas Gary and his fiancée Alexis Desormeaux, Bryce Taylor, Gavin Taylor and his wife Tanya, and Annah Louise Gary; four great grandchildren, Nathan Touchet, Kamden Viator, Eli Taylor, and Lexi Taylor; and brother, Nerry Gary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Eula Gary; son, Michael Gary; granddaughter, Britani Gary; siblings, Raywood Gary, Cyrus Gary, Eugene Gary, and Clara Romero; maternal grandparents, Fayo and Zelda Touchet; and paternal grandparents, Albert and Natalie Touchet Gary.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of rosary.

The family would like to thank Audubon Hospice for the comfort you gave U.J., as well as the wonderful insights, knowledge, and emotional support you showed our entire family.  A special thank you goes out to Kacie Oliver for her kindness, caring and compassion….she was a blessing.
