Umae S. Gaspard

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church honoring the life of Umae S. Gaspard, 97, who died Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Stephen Sahayaraj Irudayasamy officiating the services.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel R. Gaspard of Rayne, Freddie J. Gaspard (Linda) of Kaplan, and Wayne P. Gaspard (Stephanie) of Kaplan; her daughter, Joyce G. Richard (Chester) of Kaplan; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre N. Gaspard; her parents, Asa Simon and the former Emie Schexnider; her brothers, Whitney, Wilbe, John Unis, James, and Paul Simon; her sisters, Leone S. Broussard, Yolande S. Schexnider, Eula S. Roche, and Mitha S. Abshire; and her grandson, Richard D. Gaspard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for church at 12:45 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM.
