Vernis "Slim" Leger

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Vernis "Slim" Leger, 80, who died Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Eastridge Nursing Center. He will be laid to rest at St. David Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Paul Bienvenu officiating the services.

He is survived by his lifelong partner of 52 years, Sandra Lemaire of Kaplan; two daughters, Abbie Bergeron and her husband, Monty of Maurice, and Rhonda Kibodeaux of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Samantha Leger, Hannah Leger, Coleman Bergeron, and Cealy Bergeron; and one great-grandchild, Sloane Adamson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Leger and the former Mary Benoit; and two sisters, Eva Mayer, and Irene Overley.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM; Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 8:00 AM until the services begin at 11:00 AM.
