Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Wilda V. Mayard, 91, who died on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at her home in St. Martinville. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul's Cemetery with Father Dan Picard officiating the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph W. Mayard, Andrew Machen, Devin Guillory, Zach Breaux, Raywood Stevens, and Caleb Theriot.

Wilda will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked as the bookkeeper for Ray's Appliance Service in Abbeville, which she owned and operated with her husband, Raywood, until retirement. She was also a lover of Dr. Pepper, putting together jigsaw puzzles, taking trips to the casino, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived in death by her son, Joseph W. Mayard and his wife, Felice; daughters, Christine Theriot, and Mary Breaux and her husband, Patin; seven grandchildren, Andrew M. Machen and his wife, Melissa, Jennifer Frick and her husband, Brent, Zachary Breaux and his wife, Lacey, Raywood Stevens and his wife, Brittany, Emma Jean Guillory and her husband, Devin, Stanley Theriot and his wife, Catina, and Theresa Rose Mayard; and ten great-grandchildren, Ian Frick, Ava Theriot, Caleb Theriot, Jamie Theriot, Gavin Theriot, Charlotte Machen, Tula Guillory, Georgia Guillory, Woody Stevens and Sadie Sonnier.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raywood Mayard; her daughter, Sue Hollier and her husband, Harry; son-in-law, Bob Theriot; her parents, Alice White Veazey and Lenard Veazey; and her siblings.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 S. St. Charles St. Abbeville, LA. 70510 on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 1:15 PM when the precession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
