Wilson Joseph Mouton

Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Wilson Joseph Mouton, 81, who died Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Maison duMonde Living Center.  He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Deacon Tim Marcentel officiating the services.  Pallbearers will be Leewood Mouton, Aiden Mouton, Slaide Mouton, Lance Richard, Tyler Hernandez, and Joseph Gilbert.  Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Mouton and Terry Mouton.

Wilson enjoyed many things in life, from watching horse races, trips to the casino, and crabbing.  Some of his favorite things were going dancing and playing cards with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Pontiff Mouton; two sons, Leewood Mouton and his wife, Tracie of Erath, and Terry Mouton of Abbeville; four daughters, Stella Bourgeois and her husband, Dennis of Abbeville, Cheryl Gary of Erath, Vickie Hernandez and her husband, Jerome of Erath, and Christine Duplantis and her husband, Timothy of Delcambre; brother, Michael Mouton and his wife, Stephanie of Erath; eighteen grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Mouton and the former Lillie Decoux; and sisters, Louella Baudoin and Vivian Touchet.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 8:00 AM until time of services.

The family would like to thank Bridgeway Hospice for their compassion and care that they gave Wilson during his final days.
